First, we looked at the shape of the truck overall, and decided that the body of the truck most closely resembled a rectangle, with one side that is more curved than straight. We drew this as the body of our truck.
Then we looked closely to see what other shapes we could recognize. When we looked at the truck from the side, we could see two wheels and could draw circles to represent them.
After all of the parts of the body of the truck were finished, we were free to begin to add details to our work.
We took our time recognizing the shapes we saw on the fire truck. We used shapes to draw ladders, windows, and doors. This required us to look very closely at our models.
