We are so excited to start school next week!
This blog will have new information every week — about our curriculum, our conversations, our challenges and joys as classes and a community. We look forward to you checking in each week.

You may be considering how to prepare your child for The Nest. Each child differs, and some need more information and some need less.
Here are a few suggestions:
- State facts simply: "When the summer is over, you will go to a preschool."
- Avoid unrealistic expectations, such as, "You will love it.”
- Be positive: "I am very excited about all you will learn and do."
- Be open to opportunities for your child to bring up questions or concerns.
- Set up any new family morning routines before the first day of school.
- Describe briefly what the first day will be like.
The first days in the Nest will begin by gathering and worshipping together. After a visit to the bathroom, we will go outside to play in the park. Upon our return from the park, a simple common snack will be provided. We will introduce some materials, sing a song or two, share a story and be ready to leave. This is our plan, but of course we will follow the children's lead.
Events for all Nest families:
Welcome Back Parents Meeting: Tuesday, September 6, 6:30-7:15
- The Welcome Back (or Welcome) parent meeting in the Nest begins at 6:30pm in the classrooms. All preschool parents should attend to meet their children’s teachers and to learn about the class activities and parent expectations.
Park Play Date: Wednesday, September 7
- Between 9:00am and 9:45am, the preschool teachers will be at Church Square Park to meet their new students. This is a time for families and teachers to meet one another and play at the park. You may come and go as you please during this time.
Classroom Visits: Saturday, September 10 (times listed below)
- This is a parent and student morning. There are set times for families to come into the classroom at half hour intervals. Parents and students may enjoy some activities together designed to help the children become familiar with the space. Please consult the list below for your visiting times for this day.
First Days of School*:
*Note: Even if your child is a full day student, the first full week begins with two half days followed by three full days.
- Monday, September 12, 8:30am-11:45am: First full morning of school for half day students in Sky and Trees
- Monday & Tuesday, September 13 & 14, 8:30am-11:45am: Half days for ALL students in Sky and Trees
- Wednesday, September 15, 8:30am-2:50pm: First full day of school for full day students in Sky and Trees
