Did you know that we have a theme every year at school?
This year the theme is Story.
From the Nest to 8th grade we are looking at how stories help us learn, how stories can draw us closer together, how 'story' can mean so many different things, and how we live our stories.
We all know the power of story.
Listening to stories from an early age builds every facet of the brain.
Writing and illustrating stories builds our literacy and sequencing.

Reading the pictures builds an awareness of setting, characters, and sequence.
Stories help us think about what it feels like to be someone else!
Ms. Jordan told her students the story of how she used a cane on their recent visit...
We even learn how to care for stories and the books they are found in — How to turn pages and carry them with care...
The seventh and eighth-grade students visited with stories that they wrote and illustrated and the children were exceptionally welcoming and attentive...
Stories invite us into a place of intimacy ... quiet
... stillness ... safety ...
... Have you ever noticed how quiet worship is?
And of the storyteller.
In worship, it is always the teacher who tells the story.
Until now.
On Monday, Ms. Chalmers told the story of the Holy Nativity — the story or Jesus' birth to the children at school...
... and offered the children a special invitation:
"Would you like to be the ones to help tell the story?"
The answer was a resounding "YES!"
And so we are practicing...
Getting to know the story really well by hearing it over and over ...
...as well as costuming, bravery, listening bodies...
And, of course, learning a little bit of Latin...
(Gloria! Gloria! In Excelsis Deo!)
And so you are invited...
Why the change in venue?
Because, as Abe put it... "We can't just have 4 angels to tell this story. Not just four! We need TWO HUNDRED!"
So we need the biggest room possible.
