Sky and Trees Students have met ...
the Library!
Sometimes we go to the Community Room,
where we can find a book on a shelf,
find a cozy spot,
a spread-out spot,
or a big kid spot.
Sometimes the books come to our room!
... in a special library basket!
We pick one,
and find a quiet spot to read.
This is a special time where we spend time alone with our books,
Just like spending time with a friend.
We look and look and look,
and when we have chosen the book we want,
we write our name on the card...
to keep track of which book we have.
then we can take it home for a whole week!
This is a time not just for your child to enjoy the book, but you for you enjoy the book along with your child. Each night, find at least 5 minutes to sit and read together. Dim the lights, turn off the screens, and curl up together over your child's choice of book. Maybe this library book will be added to the roster of many books, maybe it will be the only book you read over and over all week. It doesn't matter! Either way, countless studies have shown that this will improve a child vocabulary, improve love of reading and learning, calm the mind before bed, and further deepen bonds between parent and child.

Sky students bring their books back on Monday.
Trees students bring their books back on Tuesday.
But we don't worry! Even if you forget, a child can still check out a new book under the name "Sky Class" or "Trees Class" for the classroom bookshelf. If you forget, bring the book back when you remember, even if it is not a library day!
Sebastian used this opportunity to further our spider research with a spider book he found.
And it makes us feel proud to have new skills and know a new routine.
