This week we used mirrors to help us with our first self-portraits. We did them step by step. We first traced with our fingers our face, eyes, ears, nose, hair and other details. Then the second step was to use our finger to "draw" what we traced on the paper and finally, with flair pen in hand, we carefully created the shapes as we planned.
This is one way we are practicing observational drawing.

The rest of the week was exciting, too!
We then began to look for details everywhere...
where we find the title, author, and illustrator on the cover.
This inspired us to be authors and illustrators, too!
We used the letter cards from the light table...
to build letters!
We even started writing letters at the Grassy Place during park time!
We also played right hand/left hand games
like shaking with our right hands to help us with our writing skills.
We traced our friend's right hand....
and played the Hokey Pokey!
Meanwhile in the Studio... In the Studio, we've been learning about colors, mixing, and other paint techniques with Ms. Gluckow. Reviewing and talking about our work helps us reflect, learn, and discover new things!

and helping to read the morning message by pointing to each word!
Finally, Milo shared birthday treats with us to celebrate his birthday.
(Yes, they made our lips turn blue and were so tasty!)
