This week was full with our first rainy day, a special holiday,
meeting a new area in the Studio, and a Park Story!

On certain days during our second park time we go to the grassy place and use our imagination...
and one day when we were there, we discovered something...
From under a tree, two cords extend. The children have been pulling on them each day, playing that there is a treasure under the tree that could be excavated. One day, a different story evolved...
A Park Story

Melanie: I know! Maybe there are dogs! (the cords could be leashes)
Sarah and Mirabella (join in digging out the dogs): Dogs are there? Get them free! Ruff, ruff!
Mirabella: They’re police dogs.
Melanie: Nice dogs.
Sarah (very comforting voice): Aw, puppies!
Kayla: We need to make the ground wet. Then we can dig them free.
Ms. Kadota: How can we do that?
Kayla: Sprinkle water on it.
Mirabella: Spray on water.
Kayla: My aunt has a watering can. Maybe we can borrow it.
Ms. Kadota: Maybe it will rain tonight and get the ground wet.
Kayla: A hose.
Mirabella: A hose!
Kayla: My dad could bring a hose. He’s a fire fighter! Maybe I can ask my aunt for a watering can.
The story will have to continue another day
because this week we had our first rainy day
and couldn't go to the park so...
we played indoors with special "rainy day" bristle blocks...
and Duplo blocks!
We celebrated Rosh Hashanah and dipped apples in honey while our teachers read a special prayer to us and gave us each a piece of challah bread.
May it be God's will to grant you a good and sweet new year.

Learning some math procedures...
Every morning at meeting we take turns counting the name rocks to see how many children are at school. We've learned to use a 10-frame structure (5 on top and 5 on the bottom) to help us keep track.
Counting is part of our daily routine also during songs and chants...
and we even count on our own
during activity time. (Did you know that the colored widgets are in the shape of a rhombus and the little white piece is an octahedron?)
We even count while singing during music class with
Dr. Smith!
We also use geometric names for blocks like square and math words like unit but...
there is a gap! What can we do with it?
Teamwork!
After Quiet Time we do a bit of stretching...
and then we love playing games with Ms. Kadota like
"Be the Animal."
Art challenge: What happens if we mixed two colors of wax?
We did just that and then passed them around to see how they mixed.
