How do you feel today?
How to make and use your feelings chart:
A note to parents:
A note to parents:
- The goal of this activity is for your child to have a visual system for identifying and expressing emotions.
- You can complete as much or as little of this as you want in one day or stretch it out over many days. It is never a “completed” activity, as it’s intended to be a tool for your home classroom (and family time, too) going forward.
- This chart can help children build emotional vocabulary and give them a non-verbal way to express their emotions when they can't access language.
Practice using your emotions chart.
Take a moment to remember how to use it:
- The colors on the bottom (blue and green, cool colors) represent lower energy emotions
- The colors on the top (red and yellow, warm colors) represent high energy emotions.
- The colors on the left represent unpleasant emotions ("feeling blue"/ "fire-y").
- The colors on the right represent pleasant emotions (relaxing-in-the-green-grass / joyful-and-sunshine-y).
