This week in literacy, we met a new friend ... MAT MAN!
We have been working on building Mat Man using big curves and little curves, as well as big lines and little lines.
Mat Man even has a song that we sing so that we can remember how to build him!
First, we build Mat Man's head, so that he can think;
his eyes so he can see;
his nose so he can smell;
and mouth so he can eat.
Next we give Mat Man ears so he can hear,
and a body to hold what is inside.
Mat Man has two arms so that he can reach;
two hands so he can clap;
two legs so he can stand;
and two feet so he can walk!
Mat Man is finished!
(Hold for applause)
This activity targets body awareness, as well as an introduction to big and little lines and big and little curves, the building blocks of all capital letters.
