In fact, many children have been enjoying making patterns in the Trees Class.
It all started when we started noticing patterns everywhere.

Then we began creating patterns!

At first, we were just happily making any old design — connecting them was fun and we loved them.

To check our work, we read our pattern:
"Black, White, Black, White, Black, White...
When we say it out loud, it is sometimes easier to catch a mistake as children are using multiple modalities.
Our multi-sensory work in patterns helps us with visual discrimination, one-to-one correspondence, counting, fine motor skills — all of which help build stronger writers, readers, and mathematicians.
